To add a friend, just use Friend search to find people you know and then click on the "Add as Friend" button to the right of their search listing. A friend request will be sent to that person. Once they confirm that they actually are friends with you, they will show up on your Friends List.
You can also click on a person's name on the site and visit their profile and add them as a friend.
Please note that privacy settings may limit your ability to see the "Add as Friend" link for some users.
If you would like to remove a friend, navigate to the person’s profile and click the "Remove from Friends" link on the right of the page. If you select this option, you will be removed from the person's Friends List as well. You will need to repeat the friend confirmation process if you wish to be friends with this person again. You can also do this from the pop up profile by moving your mouse over the person's name in the timeline. The pop up will appear and you can click from there.
No, but all friend links are reciprocal, so you will be removed as a friend from their Friend List as well.
You can message up to twenty Koini friends or email addresses at once. Alternatively, if you are an admin of a Koini group, you can message all the members of your group by going to the group profile and following the "Message All Members" link underneath the group photo. Note that this option is only available for groups with 5,000 people or fewer.
To post a video, simply post the YouTube url into the post box and add your comments, Koini will retrieve the video and post it along with your comments. If you would like to post an image into your timeline click on the message box and it will give you a choice to click 'Photo' or 'Link'. If you click photo you will be given further prompts to post. If you would like to attach a news article or web site click on 'Link' and you will be given another box.
When you have inputted your link (in the above is http://www.cnn.com) then click 'Attach'. Koini will retrieve the information on that page and give a small summarty of the link and it will also give you some images to chose from.
Then simply add your comments into the bottom box and click 'Post' (you have a 600 character limit on the comments you can make). This will then post your link with an image and your comments.
Note: Not all site's information can be retreived, if this is the case with one of your links you will see the error message 'We could not parse the website information'.

Phishing is an online attempt to trick users into providing login and account information by pretending to be a login page or email from an official organization. Common examples include banks or email providers,
In the case of a phishing login page, the login page may look identical to the login page you would normally go to. However, in these instances the website does not belong to the organization you have an account with (the URL web address of the website should reflect this).
In the case of a phishing email, the email may look like an email you would receive from the organization you have an account with. However, the links provided in these emails typically direct you to the above phishing login page, rather than a legitimate login page for that organization.
To prevent your account information from being obtained in a phishing scheme, please double check the URL of the websites you have an account with. For example, "www.Koini.example.com" is not a legitimate Koini page on the "koini.com" domain, but "koini.com/example" is a legitimate Koini page because it has the "koini.com" domain. When in doubt, you can always just type in "koini.com" into your browser to return to the legitimate Koini site.
Please note that current versions of Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer warn you if you have navigated to a suspected phishing site, and we recommend that you upgrade your browser to the most current version. You can also find more information about phishing and how to avoid it at http://www.antiphishing.org/consumer_recs.html and http://onguardonline.gov/phishing.html.
Never click suspicious links: It is possible that your friends could unwillingly send spam, viruses, or malware through Koini if their accounts are infected. Do not click this material and do not run any ".exe" files on your computer without knowing what they are. Also, be sure to use the most current version of your browser as they contain important security warnings and protection features. Have a unique, strong password: From the Access Details page, be sure to use a different password than you use for other sites or services, made up of a complex string of numbers, letters, and punctuation marks that is at least six characters in length. Do not use words found in the dictionary.
Run anti-virus software: If your computer has been infected with a virus or with malware, you will need to run anti-virus software to remove harmful programs and keep your information secure.

Who are you? Let people know with your profile and get 100 Credits!
Now that you’ve created your account, it’s time to set up your Profile. Your Profile allows you to share your life, your interests, hobbies and anything else you want to include with people you connect to on Koini.
Getting started
To edit your Profile at any time, click on the “Edit & Settings” link in the My Profile menu, then click on "Profile" in the right hand menu. Your profile represents who you are, fill out the information about your interests, activities and favourite things to do, the more you fill out, the more interesting it will be to someone who looks at your profile. Make sure you pay attention to the section below as it is what will pop up on your dynamic profile.
A picture is worth a thousand words
Everybody needs a profile picture, it makes it easier for your friends to recognise you, especially if you have a name that's pretty common (e.g. John Smith). Don't forget as well, everything you do on Koini is a representation of you and who you are, so be creative. The most important thing to remember about photos is that nothing is permanent, pick what you feel represents you best today. If you feel different tomorrow, just pick a different one. It's quick and easy to switch out your profile picture.
Control your safety
Koini helps you share information with your friends and the people involved in your life, but we understand you may not want everyone to see certain things or comment on certain things. We've created privacy settings intended to help you control your information and your profile so you can choose who can see what. You can simply change the settings in your profile Privacy section to activate or deactivate the ability to view certain parts of your profile information or to allow/disallow comments on your profile, photos and scrapbook posts. You may also want to be hidden from the browse section of the site so only that the only way your friends can find you is via the search fields. Please visit the 'Edit' section of your profile and click on the 'Privacy Settings' to change how you interact on the site.
